Call of Duty Black Ops 7 EU Launch Sales Fall Significantly Behind Battlefield 6 by 63 Percent

The European launch performance of Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is shaping up to be one of the most underwhelming premieres for the franchise in recent memory. Despite securing the number one spot on the latest GSD Sales Data report for premium game sales during the week of November 10 to 16, the title is well below industry expectations for a new Activision release.

According to the latest figures published by The Game Business through GSD Sales Data, Black Ops 7’s first week sales in the European market were 63 percent lower than the launch week of Battlefield 6, a surprising comparison given the historical dominance of the Call of Duty brand in the region. The publication further estimates that sales were more than 50 percent lower than the first week results of last year’s Black Ops 6.

Despite topping the charts, the performance signals a launch that has fallen short of the franchise’s traditional momentum. While Black Ops 7 likely still sold several million copies across the EU, by Call of Duty standards this result represents a noticeable decline.

On the other side of the charts, Anno 117 Pax Romana delivered a strikingly different performance. Launching just two days before Black Ops 7, Ubisoft’s newest city builder more than doubled the first week sales of Anno 1800, marking an impressive trajectory for the franchise.

Football Manager 26, which opened strongly the previous week, continued to appear in revenue rankings although it slid out of the top sellers list. Persistent technical issues and negative word of mouth appear to be weakening its early momentum.

Meanwhile, Battlefield 6 continues to maintain a strong commercial presence. The title held a top five position in both units sold and revenue, demonstrating sustained demand following its highly publicized launch. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 also maintained a strong presence thanks to a content rich DLC rollout, a free trial period, and significant promotional discounts.

Call of Duty has historically operated with unmatched brand gravity across global markets, but the muted reception of Black Ops 7 reflects a shifting landscape in a year where major competitors are delivering stronger than expected results. Whether this performance represents a temporary anomaly or a broader trend remains to be seen, particularly with holiday sales cycles now underway.
