Borderlands Franchise Lands on GeForce NOW; Borderlands 4 Confirmed for Day-One Support

In a significant move for cloud gaming enthusiasts, NVIDIA has announced that the Borderlands franchise is now available to stream via GeForce NOW. This marks the return of publisher 2K Games to the platform in a more meaningful way, as the beloved Borderlands series joins the roster — with Borderlands 4 officially confirmed to be available on day one when it launches this September.

The announcement, shared via the weekly GeForce NOW update, highlights that Borderlands: Game of the Year Enhanced, Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and Borderlands 3 are now fully playable through the cloud. Players can stream them via Steam or the Epic Games Store, depending on the edition.

This move is especially noteworthy as 2K was one of the first major publishers to withdraw from GeForce NOW when it officially exited beta in 2020, alongside others like Activision Blizzard and Bethesda. However, that stance appears to be softening—the Mafia franchise made its debut on GeForce NOW just last month, and with Borderlands now in, speculation is rising about further additions.

Games like BioShock, X-COM, and various 2K sports titles (e.g., NBA 2K, WWE 2K, Top Spin, and PGA Tour) are still notably absent from GeForce NOW. Whether they’ll join in the future remains to be seen, but the recent additions certainly suggest 2K is revisiting its cloud gaming strategy.

Even though Borderlands 4 has fairly modest PC requirements—especially for a title built on Unreal Engine 5—its inclusion in the cloud library at launch is a welcome option for players without high-end hardware or those who prefer the convenience of cross-device gameplay.
