Battlefield 6 Season 2 Nightfall Update Goes Live With Hagental Base, New LTM, Weapons, Dirt Bike and REDSEC Content

EA and Battlefield Studios have now officially launched the second phase of Battlefield 6 Season 2, titled Nightfall, bringing with it the long promised Hagental Base map, a darkness focused limited time mode, new weapons, a new vehicle, and fresh updates for REDSEC. EA’s official support page confirms that Game Update 1.2.2.0 is now live and launches alongside Season 2: Nightfall, adding the new map, darkness based limited time modes across Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, new weapons, dirt bikes, and a wider set of improvements touching vehicles, gadgets, AI, maps, UI, Portal, audio, and progression.

The centerpiece of the update is clearly Hagental Base, which gives Season 2 a very different second map compared with Contaminated. Where Contaminated leaned more into a broader battlefield structure with environmental hazards, Hagental Base is built around tighter underground spaces and close quarters pressure. Reporting published after the patch went live describes the map as a corridor heavy environment that becomes even more intense inside the new Nightfall limited time mode, where visibility drops dramatically and players are pushed into a far more claustrophobic, aggressive style of combat.

The new limited time mode, also called Nightfall, is one of the update’s biggest hooks. In this playlist, players fight inside the darkened Hagental Base while relying on Night Vision Goggles and other visibility tools to survive. That design makes the mode feel less like a traditional open Battlefield sandbox and more like a tactical close quarters experiment, where equipment choices and light management become just as important as positioning and aim. Community and patch note references also indicate that REDSEC receives its own Nightfall themed content, including a version of Gauntlet: Nightfall built around darkness mechanics and elimination style rounds.

On the weapon side, the update adds the CZ3A1 submachine gun and the vz. 61 automatic sidearm, giving players 2 new options for close range engagements that fit the tone of Hagental Base especially well. The vehicle addition is the dirt bike, which gives the broader Season 2 sandbox another lightweight mobility option. Together, these additions reinforce that Nightfall is not just a map drop, but a more complete mid season refresh built around faster movement and tighter engagement ranges.

There are also some tactical wrinkles that should change how players approach the mode. Recon players can reportedly equip a Drone to help navigate and identify enemies through the darkness, while thermal optics and flashlights become much more valuable than usual. At the same time, attachments like laser sights become far riskier because they stand out much more clearly in low light combat. This gives Hagental Base and Nightfall a stronger identity than a simple dark map variant, since the update actively changes what counts as a smart loadout.

From a momentum standpoint, this is an important update for Battlefield 6. Season 2 first launched on February 17, 2026, after being delayed, and while it did inject some life back into the game, it also left some players wanting more permanent value beyond limited time gimmicks. Nightfall looks like EA’s attempt to strengthen that second phase with a more memorable map identity and a stronger themed mode, even if the reliance on another limited time playlist may still divide parts of the community.

For now, though, the update does deliver what was promised: a new map, a new mode, new weapons, a new vehicle, and REDSEC support all wrapped into one darker, more tactical push for Season 2.

Do you think Nightfall’s dark corridor combat is the kind of fresh twist Battlefield 6 needed, or would you rather see EA focus more on permanent large scale content instead?
