Marvel Confirms Long-Term Collaboration With Insomniac Games “For Many Years to Come”

The partnership between Marvel Games and Insomniac Games continues to thrive, and it appears that the collaboration between the two creative powerhouses is far from over. In a recent interview with Game Informer, Haluk Mentes, General Manager of Marvel Games, confirmed that the companies plan to continue working together for many years to come, reinforcing one of the strongest developer–publisher relationships in the gaming industry.

Over the past decade, Insomniac Games has built a stellar reputation for delivering some of the most successful and critically acclaimed Marvel titles, including Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018), Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020), and Spider-Man 2 (2023), with Marvel’s Wolverine currently in development. Mentes spoke about the creative alignment between both studios and how that shared philosophy has shaped their ongoing success.

“The challenge is more complex: authenticity doesn’t necessarily mean one-to-one fidelity to source or reference material, whether it’s comics, animation, or movies,” Mentes explained. “It’s much deeper in that we allow our collaborating teams to reimagine familiar yet original incarnations of our characters based on their own creative DNA. We absolutely do not want to be derivative. Otherwise, what’s the point of working with some of the best talent out there?”

Mentes emphasized that Marvel’s longevity and ability to remain fresh after nearly 90 years comes from its willingness to evolve creatively while empowering new generations of storytellers to leave their mark on the brand.

“Marvel is an almost 90-year-old creative brand, yet it’s as fresh as ever because during all that time, each new generation grew up with Marvel, ultimately became creators and left their mark, and then passed the torch to the next generation.”

The same spirit of creative freedom is what has defined Marvel’s collaboration with Insomniac. Mentes called the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine the “epitome” of their partnership, citing a decade-long relationship built on trust, mutual understanding, and shared values.

“We have been working together for more than a decade and developed such a shorthand across multiple Marvel’s Spider-Man games that when the time finally came to bring Logan back in spectacular and visceral fashion, it was obvious to everyone on our team that Insomniac was the perfect choice. It was our shared culture and values that brought us together, and we’re so proud to continue collaborating for many years to come.”

The continued partnership promises more exciting projects in the future, though Marvel has yet to confirm what comes after Marvel’s Wolverine. Given Insomniac’s proven track record of blending emotional storytelling, cinematic visuals, and engaging gameplay, fans can likely expect more beloved Marvel heroes to receive similar treatment in the years ahead.
