Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update 1.1.1 Adds New Story Quest, Ezio-Themed Cosmetics, and Gameplay Enhancements
Ubisoft has rolled out Assassin’s Creed Shadows update 1.1.1, introducing a mix of quality-of-life features, gameplay improvements, and cosmetic rewards, while also laying the groundwork for the upcoming Claws of Awaji expansion launching on September 16. The full patch notes are available on Ubisoft’s official site.
The update introduces a new quest following Junjiro’s journey to learn the secrets of the Bo staff and track down a legendary master. Completing the quest grants players their own Bo staff. Interestingly, Ubisoft revealed this storyline was initially tied to the Claws of Awaji expansion but later decided it was too central and exciting to lock behind a paywall. The quest and weapon will officially go live on September 16 alongside the expansion.
Ezio Auditore-Inspired Cosmetics
Today’s update also adds Project Sanctuary, a new Animus HUB project that rewards players with Ezio Auditore da Firenze-themed cosmetics for both their character and even their in-game cat. This nod to the franchise’s iconic protagonist is sure to please long-time fans.
Gameplay Improvements and New Features
Update 1.1.1 makes several gameplay adjustments and adds useful new tools:
Level cap increase
Enhanced scouts with improved functionality
Hideout upgrades for more customization
Improved gear quality
Ability to advance time of day
Numerous bug fixes and stability updates
Claws of Awaji Expansion Arrives September 16
When Claws of Awaji launches, it will expand the game with:
A new island region to explore
A new faction to face
The unlockable Bo staff weapon
Additional gear, abilities, and storyline content
This expansion marks the conclusion of Ubisoft’s previously revealed summer roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Given its strong sales and reception, Ubisoft is expected to continue supporting the game with further updates and content well into the future.
