AMD Releases Adrenalin 26.6.3 Hotfix to Fix Windows 10 Yellow Bang Error

AMD has released its Adrenalin Edition 26.6.3 Hotfix Preview driver to address an installation problem affecting Windows 10 systems after the arrival of Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2. According to the official AMD release notes, the new driver fixes an intermittent installation issue reported on computers using Radeon RX 7000 series and newer graphics products. Affected users reported that their Radeon graphics cards could display a yellow warning symbol inside Windows Device Manager, while AMD Software could refuse to launch because the installed application and active graphics driver were no longer recognized as compatible.

The problem appeared shortly after AMD released Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 on June 22, 2026. That driver was especially important for Radeon RX 7000 owners because it introduced official FSR Upscaling 4.1 support for RDNA 3 graphics cards. It also added support for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations, alongside fixes for RoadCraft on Radeon RX 7000 products and the HP Reverb G2 headset on Radeon RX 6000 hardware. However, the Windows 10 installation failure prevented some users from accessing the driver normally and could leave the system operating through a basic display driver or an incomplete Radeon installation.

AMD initially advised affected players to return to Adrenalin Edition 26.6.1 while its engineers investigated the issue. The company recommends using the AMD Cleanup Utility when removing or downgrading an existing driver, particularly when an installation may be incomplete or corrupted. Rolling back restored normal operation for many users, but it also removed the official FSR 4.1 support introduced through the 26.6.2 branch.

Adrenalin Edition 26.6.3 Hotfix Preview now provides Windows 10 users with a direct path back to the latest Radeon feature set. The driver supports Windows 10 64 bit version 21H2 and later, as well as Windows 11 version 21H2 and later, although the corrected installation problem is specifically associated with Windows 10. AMD officially lists Radeon RX 7000 series and newer products as affected, meaning the issue was not necessarily limited to RDNA 3 hardware and could also appear on selected Radeon RX 9000 configurations.

The update is particularly relevant because Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 brought AMD’s newer machine learning upscaler to Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards. FSR 4.1 uses an INT8 model adapted for the first generation artificial intelligence accelerators inside RDNA 3, giving cards such as the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, RX 7900 XT, RX 7800 XT, RX 7700 XT, and RX 7600 access to improved image reconstruction in compatible games. FSR 4.1 also appeared inside Proton Experimental, suggesting that similar support could eventually extend to Linux and SteamOS systems.

Users currently running Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 without problems do not necessarily need to remove it immediately, but anyone experiencing a Device Manager warning, limited display resolution, missing Radeon functionality, or an AMD Software compatibility message should install the hotfix. Using the Cleanup Utility before reinstalling may also reduce the risk of older driver files interfering with the updated package.

AMD responded quickly to the Windows 10 installation problem, releasing the 26.6.3 Hotfix Preview shortly after user reports began appearing. That rapid response is important because Adrenalin 26.6.2 introduced one of the most meaningful software upgrades Radeon RX 7000 owners have received since launch.

The incident still highlights the challenge of expanding advanced graphics features across multiple architectures and operating systems. FSR 4.1 gives RDNA 3 users a stronger upscaling option, but the feature loses much of its value when the required driver cannot install reliably. Since 26.6.3 remains a preview release, users who depend on maximum stability for competitive gaming, streaming, or professional workloads may prefer to monitor community feedback before updating.

Did Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 cause a yellow warning symbol or prevent AMD Software from launching on your Windows 10 system, and has the 26.6.3 hotfix resolved it?
