Embark Unveils ARC Raiders Flashpoint Update With New Vaporizer Enemy, Close Scrutiny Operations, and Fresh Weapons

Embark Studios has officially revealed the Flashpoint Update for ARC Raiders, and the next major content drop is set to go live on March 31, 2026. The update introduces a new major map condition system called ARC Operations, a new ARC enemy known as the Vaporizer, 2 new weapons, a new deployable item, additional progression content, crafting improvements, and more.

The headline gameplay addition is ARC Operations, which Embark describes as a new type of major map condition. The first one, Close Scrutiny, changes the flow of a raid by reducing the amount of normal loot available across the map while introducing a high value target called the Assessor. According to Embark, this machine arrives under heavy ARC protection, creating a much riskier but potentially much more rewarding combat zone for Raiders willing to fight over premium loot. That design strongly suggests Flashpoint is trying to create denser conflict zones and more high pressure encounters rather than simply adding another passive farming route.

The new enemy joining that chaos is the Vaporizer, a flying ARC threat built around devastating laser attacks. Embark says the machine has already gained a reputation among Raiders for its destructive firepower and unusual attack patterns, making it one of the more dangerous additions to the game’s machine ecosystem so far. If ARC Raiders was already strong at forcing players to balance PvE pressure with the ever present threat of rival Raiders, the Vaporizer looks set to raise that tension further by making exposed engagements even more punishing.

To help players deal with that new pressure, Flashpoint also adds 2 new weapons and 1 new item. The Canto is a submachine gun that uses medium ammunition and is meant for close quarters fights against both ARC and enemy Raiders. The Dolabra is an energy shotgun designed to punch through ARC armor at short range, with Embark noting that players have the best chance of finding its blueprint inside the Close Scrutiny ARC Operation. The new item is the Surge Coil, a deployable device that periodically electrifies the area around it, damaging anything that moves too close.

Outside of direct combat, the update also adds a new project called High Gain Antenna, which ties into Celeste and Shani’s effort to get a better view of ARC activity topside. Embark says players will need to gather important resources to help build the antenna, continuing the game’s pattern of linking worldbuilding, progression, and communal survival objectives together. At the same time, Scrappy is getting expanded functionality through a new feeding boost system that lets players influence the types of loot the rooster can bring back, while also increasing the value of the rewards over time.

Flashpoint is also making wider sandbox adjustments. Shredders will now begin appearing outside Stella Montis and can show up on Blue Gate, Buried City, Spaceport, and Dam Battlegrounds during certain map conditions. Crafting is also being streamlined so players can fulfill missing materials directly from the crafting screen, with Embark saying the goal is to reduce menu friction and make it easier to rebuild a loadout without bouncing between multiple tabs. Those kinds of quality of life changes may not be the flashiest part of the patch, but they are often the improvements that matter most over dozens of hours of play.

Embark is also rolling out new cosmetic content as part of the update. The Wasp Hunter Set is launching as the second major cosmetic bundle, and the studio says additional outfits will be released periodically through April. While cosmetic drops are expected in a live service extraction game, the more important signal here is that Embark continues to expand ARC Raiders as a service platform with a mix of gameplay systems, progression layers, and monetized style content moving in parallel.

For players, the Flashpoint Update looks like a meaningful escalation patch rather than a light content refresh. Close Scrutiny has the potential to reshape how contested zones feel, the Vaporizer adds a new kind of aerial threat, and the Dolabra plus Surge Coil should give players more tactical options when fighting both machines and human opponents. If the update lands well, it could become one of the stronger steps yet in defining what ARC Raiders wants its long term raid rhythm to be.
