Assetto Corsa Rally Revealed, Launches in Early Access on PC This November
Publisher 505 Games and developer Supernova Games Studios, in technical collaboration with KUNOS Simulazioni, have officially announced Assetto Corsa Rally, a new entry in the acclaimed sim racing franchise that expands the series into the world of rally racing. The title will arrive in Early Access on Steam beginning November 13, 2025, marking a major evolution for the Assetto Corsa brand.
This will be the second major release in the Assetto Corsa series in 2025, following the launch of Assetto Corsa EVO earlier this year on January 16, which also began as an Early Access title. As of now, EVO remains in development, with its 1.0 release initially projected for Fall 2025, though no new updates have been provided.
Assetto Corsa Rally is being developed with a customized version of KUNOS Simulazioni’s physics engine, specifically adapted to handle the distinctive demands of rally racing. The engine has been tuned to simulate uneven surfaces, jumps, unpredictable road conditions, and a fully dynamic weather system, all contributing to a more authentic representation of rally driving. Vehicles will react more naturally to terrain changes, grip variations, and surface irregularities, resulting in an immersive and technically demanding driving experience.
In an official press statement, Supernova Games Studios highlighted the game’s use of laser-scan technology for every rally stage, enabling highly detailed and accurate reproductions of real-world environments. This includes precise modeling of terrain formations, road surface imperfections, and even natural elements such as vegetation placement and environmental structure.
Supernova Games Studios is developing Assetto Corsa Rally using Unreal Engine 5, ensuring high graphical fidelity and optimal performance. Combined with KUNOS’ physics foundation, this partnership aims to deliver a next-generation rally simulation experience with the visual and technical precision expected from the franchise.
Upon its Early Access launch, Assetto Corsa Rally will include the following content and features:
33 kilometers of fully laser-scanned real-world roads
4 Special Stages with 18 variations, featuring gravel roads in Wales and tarmac roads in Alsace
10 iconic rally cars, including vehicles from Group B, WRC, and Rally2 categories
5 gameplay modes, triple-screen support, and additional customization options
The full 1.0 version will significantly expand the game with six additional special stages, a 30-car roster, and new gameplay features including a Career Mode, Rally School, and VR support. Supernova has not yet specified a release window for the 1.0 update.
Supernova Games Studios director Maura Notarberardino shared insight into the project’s motivation, noting the lack of a modern rally simulator in today’s market.
“Feeling the lack of a modern rally simulator, we built a team and developed a technology to create one ourselves, supported by drivers, engineers, collectors, mechanics, and industry experts,” said Notarberardino. “A special thanks goes to KUNOS Simulazioni, whose partnership was crucial in maintaining the signature feel of the series, particularly regarding the driving model. Today marks an exciting new beginning for Supernova and Assetto Corsa Rally, and we cannot wait to share this journey with the community.”
KUNOS Simulazioni co-founder Marco Massarutto emphasized the challenges and technical requirements behind bringing rally racing into the Assetto Corsa ecosystem.
“A proper rally simulation requires a dedicated approach that can leverage the unique aspects of this motorsport discipline,” Massarutto explained. “Since rally drivers compete primarily against the clock rather than multiple AI opponents, it allows for significantly more CPU resources to be allocated to physics, mechanical behavior, and tire modeling. This enables us to simulate an authentic rally experience without compromise.”
He added that Assetto Corsa Rally represents a genuine, purpose-built simulation designed to push the boundaries of realism while staying true to the franchise’s established driving physics.
Notarberardino’s statement reflects a sentiment shared by many in the racing community: the absence of a true, simulation-grade rally game in recent years. Following EA’s acquisition of Codemasters and their subsequent control over the WRC license, expectations were high for a consistent lineup of annual rally titles between 2023 and 2027. However, after the release of EA Sports WRC 23, that partnership was discontinued, and Codemasters confirmed it was pausing all future WRC and rally projects.
This left a noticeable gap in the genre, disappointing fans of both the simulation-oriented WRC series and the more arcade-focused DiRT titles. Subsequently, Nacon reacquired the rights to develop officially licensed WRC games, but its next release remains in early development, with no confirmed launch timeline.
As a result, Assetto Corsa Rally enters the scene at a crucial time, aiming to fill the void for rally enthusiasts seeking realism and precision. Its combination of authentic physics, laser-scanned tracks, and meticulous attention to detail positions it as a promising evolution in the racing simulation landscape.
With its Early Access debut approaching, Assetto Corsa Rally could become the definitive modern rally simulator fans have been waiting for.
