Yacht Club Games Delays Mina the Hollower, Says It’s Not “A Major Delay,” No New Release Date Given

Mina the Hollower, the highly anticipated action-adventure game from Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games, has officially been delayed beyond its planned Halloween 2025 release. The title, which is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the next-generation Nintendo Switch 2, no longer has a confirmed launch date.

The studio announced the delay through a detailed post on its official website, titled “Delay Extravaganza II: The Tail Continues”. In the update, Yacht Club assured fans that the delay is “not a major one,” emphasizing that the game is nearly complete but needs extra time for polish and balance adjustments to ensure it meets their high standards.

“We just need a stretch of time to apply some final polish and balancing to make the game truly shine,” the post reads. “We don't want to announce another release date until it's submitted to platforms, so please hang tight as we reach the finish line. The game is so close to being done — we're playing it from start to finish every day.”

Yacht Club has maintained transparency throughout Mina the Hollower’s development, keeping backers and fans informed through regular blog updates and Kickstarter posts. The studio continues to stress that its goal is to deliver a polished, timeless experience, much like its previous hit, Shovel Knight.

While disappointing for players who were expecting a spooky-season release, the reassurance that development is in its final phase provides confidence that the wait will not be a long one. With the game already playable from start to finish internally, Mina the Hollower appears to be entering its last refinement cycle before submission to major platforms.

Fans can likely expect an updated release window once the game clears platform certification, though Yacht Club has yet to confirm when that announcement will come.

💬 Are you still excited for Mina the Hollower despite the delay? What platform will you be playing on when it launches?
